A BBJ 2 (Boeing Business Jet), outfitted and delivered by Lufthansa Technik in early 2014, recently completed an ultra long-range flight from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, to Frankfurt am Main, Germany.
Aircraft Outfitted by Lufthansa Technik
The aircraft, operated by ACM AIR CHARTER for a private client, covered a distance of 9,524 kilometers (5,139 nautical miles) with six passengers on board, completing the journey in a flight time of 12 hours and 2 minutes.
Thomas Minninger, Managing Director of ACM AIR CHARTER, commented:
We are truly impressed by the performance of the BBJ 2. The aircraft’s range and its high-end interior, which ensures exceptional comfort for passengers—especially on long-haul flights—demonstrate the outstanding work of Lufthansa Technik’s completion experts. Flying this aircraft is a pure pleasure.
The ultra-modern cabin design of the BBJ 2 was created by a renowned London-based design studio. Through the use of lightweight materials and a consistently optimized design—such as precise center-of-gravity considerations—the aircraft has been perfectly tailored for long-range operations.
Despite the strong focus on weight reduction and range optimization, the BBJ 2 cabin integrates a variety of innovative technologies. These include a steam shower, an open galley concept, and an advanced humidification system.
In addition, the aircraft is equipped with Lufthansa Technik’s state-of-the-art onboard entertainment and cabin management system, nice®, including GSM connectivity and live TV. The nice® system can be fully controlled via personal electronic devices such as iPads or iPhones. To deliver a true cinema experience, the BBJ 2 was the first Boeing 737 to be equipped with a 65-inch (165 cm) HD monitor.
